Eating out when you have a local food preference can be a bit of a challenge. At least, that’s what I thought. I know there are a number of chefs in the Vancouver area who promote cooking with locally produced ingredients, but as the title implies they are usually wielding their knives in higher end restaurants.
I checked out Eat! BC and discovered that there are 120+ restaurants listed as having locally grown menu options. And many are regular fare vs. fine dining.
The list isn’t for the purist, as sometimes the only local ingredients are the eggs in the omelet, but if you rest easier knowing you at least contributed in a small way to the local agricultural economy, the site may be of interest.
